The ‘Bene Israel’ Jews have been living in India for centuries, since long before the Expulsion from Spain. Indeed, many of the prominent families of Indian history, such as the Sassoons, were Jewish. The Bene Israel lived primarily around the Konkan area but since migrated around India and today, largely to Israel.
