Roy Lichtenstein knew Kitsch: he took the classic low-brow form of the cartoon, added irony and sophistication while keeping the classic look (but in a much more stylized and intense form) and out emerged a unique style that captured the best of the ’60s.

Lichtenstein, in other words, is a great inspiration for a Ketubah: sophisticated underneath but kitsch on the surface. Criticizing modernity while reveling in it. Bright colors that suggest a simplicity on the surface but with a profound depth underneath.
