Spring Ketubahs Are in The Air

Nothing is so beautiful as Spring –
   When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;
   Thrush’s eggs look little low heavens, and thrush
Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring
The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing;
   The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush
   The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush
With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their fling.
What is all this juice and all this joy?
   A strain of the earth’s sweet being in the beginning
In Eden garden. – Have, get, before it cloy,
   Before it cloud, Christ, lord, and sour with sinning,
Innocent mind and Mayday in girl and boy,
   Most, O maid’s child, thy choice and worthy the winning.
– Gerard Manley Hopkins

Spring is upon us; the season of rebirth, transformation, beauty and life. After the long and dreary months of winter, spring comes as a welcome change for both man and nature. Leaves and budding flowers once again sprout on barren trees and bushes. Animals come out of hibernation, and the air is buzzing with birds, and little insects busy at work.

With the rise in temperatures, comes a transformation in people as well. It is a time when we shrug off our winter layers and embrace new changes. Changes in the climate from winter to summer, pushes us to also bring changes in ourselves.

Ketubahs inspired by spring, are inspired by feelings of new life, excitement, and positive energy radiated in the season of new beginnings. Trees and flowers in lush colours adorn these bright ketubahs radiating the warmth and love of the happy couple.

The queen of seasons dominates a large collection of ketubahs at This is Not a Ketubah to reflect the values of spring we hold so dear in our marriage contract. One of my favourite spring ketubahs is The Abstract Blooms Ketubah which is inspired by Mark Rothko’s large collection of works.
