Featured in Delaware Online!

We’re honored that Delaware Online has featured us in Designing a ketubah: Personalizing Jewish marriage contracts. Yay!!!!

Margie Fishman’s wonderful article about Ketubot today includes this super-duper comment:

Today, “This is (not) a Ketubah” – a collective of Argentine and New York artists – offers ketubot in speakeasy, Parisian café, London double-decker bus and New York City subway themes. There is even a ketubah called “Hamsalicious,” referencing the palm-shaped amulet in mystical Judaism.

We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves. Thank you Margie, Thank you Delaware Online, Thank you the Esteemed State of Delaware (the First State!!!), Thank you all of our Delaware Couples!

Tonight, we’re going to have a toast — Manishevitz, of course! — to the First State!

Love to all, hugs and massive amounts of cheesiness,

Announcing: Our Lifetime Guarantee

Just as high season is about to begin, we want to make an exciting announcement:

We now have the complete infrastructure in place to guarantee every Ketubah for 100 years — for the lifetime of your marriage, and more.

We are keeping digital files, backed-up on-site and off-site, of all ketubah art and text, so that we can show the Ketubah to any rabbi anywhere in the world if needed — and we can create a new copy at any point, for any reason if needed.

What if a rabbi needs to see it in 50 years?
What if your Ketubah is lost in a fire?
What if you want an anniversary gift with a copy of your Ketubah art in 25 years?

You can read more about our Ketubah Lifetime Guarantee here.

Great news: we just shipped our first Ketubah to South Africa!!!

I’ve been there and my best friend (a Nice Jewish Boy from New York), his (Nice Jewish) parents are from there so I spent my childhood hearing tales of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

It’s exciting that we’ve created a Ketubah to send there! Yay!!!

Jews around the world…. unite! Or maybe “untie” ;)

PS: In case you’re wondering where in South Africa… Johannesburg? Port Elizabeth? Or…? The answer is… Cape Town!

We often get calls from couples, who tell us, “Team Ketubah! Our Ketubah is great but not artistic, can you create a replacement Ketubah for us?” or “We want a new Ketubah for our anniversary, can you create one?” or “We don’t even know where our original Ketubah is, can you create a replacement for us?”

The answer to all of these is… yes, yes, yes!!!

We can replace your Ketubah; we would love to; we do it all the time. For whatever your reason!

We’re Not Your Mother’s Ketubah… Nor Your Grandmother’s!

Your mother and grandmother had a Ketubah that looked like a legal contract and nothing more, or perhaps designed with art that we would call… grandmotherly. You know, the same style of her chamsa on the wall, and her menorah next to it.

We’re not your mother’s Ketubah. We’re not your grandmother’s Ketubah. Nor your father’s or grandfather’s, for that matter.

We’re your ketubah. The Ketubah for our generation!

Announcing: The Wood Ketubah!

The Wood Ketubah (Bright Kiss)

Guys, we have great news: We’re launching the first, ever wood ketubah!!!! We’re really proud of this initiative and project, and we’re soooooo excited to create a Ketubah directly onto wood. Insofar as we know, no one has ever done this before in the 4,000 year history of the ketubah!

Who thought there was so much innovation in the ketubah space? We’re happy to help take our most awesome, ancient traditions and add a modern touch — but doing so in the most high-quality and artistic ways, such as, on wood!

So, a few interesting points about the wood ketubot.

First, we’re using a modern process to create the print directly on the wood. We’re not engraving it, but printing it onto the wood itself.

Secondly, they’re only available in the 16×24 size.

Third, they’re available for almost all of our art. For a couple, we’re not creating them on wood because we don’t think they’d look amazing (and we’ll only do it if it looks amazing).

Fourth, we’re doing these with our partner, Wood Ketubah. Together, we’re so psyched about the awesome wood ketubahs we’re creating!

So exciting. Any questions? Interesting? Drop us a note and ask!!!

Coming Soon: Swedish Ketubah — Finally!

Confession: one of my weirder, Jewish interests: the Jews of Sweden. I’ve found their story fascinating for a long time. My favorite fact: the three major newspapers, it seems, were all founded by Jews and now largely run by Jews. Dagens Nyheter‘s editor-in-chief is Peter Wolodarski; Göteborgs-Posten‘s editor-in-chief is Jonathan Falck; and Svenska Dagbladet‘s editor-in-chief is Lena K. Samuelsson. With slightly curious spellings, they sound like half my class at college.

So, good news: we’re working on making a Swedish Ketubah!!! We think it would be wonderful to to support the Swedish couples, plus we want an excuse to dream about going to Sweden :) Plus all of the circles over the letters look so… exotic!

If anyone is interested in a Swedish Ketubah… just ask! Woo-hoo!

Ketubah in Spanish? ¿En Español? ¡¡Obvio!!

Greetings from Buenos Aires! Team Ketubah has an arts studio here and we’re constantly going back-and-forth between BA and New York.

And guess what the language of Buenos Aires is? ¡Español!

So, as a happy consequence of being here in Argentina… it’s easy to for us to make Ketubot (ketubahs?!) in Spanish — and we love doing so! The grammar comes naturally to us :)

Of course, there are a few levels of irony here. Not all of us are Argentine-Jews; some of us are American and Colombian Jews that spend a lot of time in Argentina. Another irony is, most Argentine Jews less tend to prefer more traditional Ketubot — although our modern style is starting to catch on like wildfire!

We were even founded to raise money for the Jewish orphanage of Buenos Aires, Ieladeinu!

We’ve created Ketubot (ketubahs!) in seemingly every language. Slight exaggeration… but not much. In French, in German, even three in Chinese!

And now…. in Spanish, too! We’re now working on two Ketubot in Spanish, one of which is trilingual! Yay!

So, if you’ve been dreaming about a Ketubah in Spanish…. just ask :)
