Josephine Earp’s Ketubah

Josephine Earp's Ketubah

Josephine Earp’s Ketubah

Who knew? The wife of the ultimate Wild West Cowboy, the original, real-life (pre-movies!) bad-boy, the Old West gangster, Earl Warp… did you know that his wife was Jewish? Josephine Earp was born, Josephine Sarah Marcus.

Now their Ketubah is a Ketubah I would love to see.

Anyone interested in a Wild West Ketubah?

We Ensure Your Ketubah Has The Correct Number of Zuzim

We promise that, what happened to this couple, we would never let happen to you.

(If your Hebrew is rusty: the Rabbi put the wrong number of Zuzim into the Ketubah; so it said that, if you get divorced, the husband must pay the wife 540,000 rather than 54,000. Well, this one poor, poor couple Israel is getting divorced… and the wife is claiming that he owes her the full 540,000!)

Zuzim: the new Bitcoin!

Just Another Day In Team Ketubah HQ

We had a particularly intense day today: some serious meetings, a whole slew of sales, planning some exciting new lines and, above all… we needed to be all done by Shabbos!

Nina and I broke the tension by jumping in front of one of our walls, covered in our Ketubot! Here is what we look like and behind us, is what some of our ketubot look like!

Now on TINAK: Portuguese Ketubahs!

Hey y’all!

Great news, for all of our Jewish friends on Brazil, and the 6 or 7 remaining Jews in Portugal: we now have Ketubot in Portuguese!

Since we spend half of our time in Buenos Aires, we are neighbors with Brazil and visit there regularly. Most recently, our very own Brad Ari Nickelbaum went to São Luís for Carneval a few weeks ago. Life is tough here in South America. But as they say, “Brazil is the land of the future… and always will be.” But did you know that observation was first made in a book by… an Austrian Jew (surprise, surprise) who moved to Brazil? Stefan Zweig, we miss you.

See our Ketubah texts (including Portuguese) page for the details — and if you want a Portuguese Ketubah, just ask!

Star Wars Ketubah

Today’s fun request for a commissioned Ketubah… a Star Wars Ketubah!

I personally hope that the Bride wears her hair like Princess Lea at the wedding.

The million-zuzim question: Was Princess Lea Jewish? After all, (1) her name is “Leah”, (2) she is a Princess, and (3) she was played by the Jewish Carrie Fisher!

What Size Should My Ketubah Be?

Ketubah Size Comparison
Click here to see the image enlarged

Short answer: 16×24 is the classic size and a great size for most couples. Long answer: Keep reading below! We offer lots of sizes and would love to help you find the perfect size for you! See our size comparison analysis below, and see the image above (click here to enlarge), and if you want even more information, send us an email!

We know that there are too many things to choose from when it come to buying a Ketubah, and most of the time, we have no idea which option is the right one, and when it comes to size how are you supposed to picture what the final Ketubah will look like if all you get a couple of numbers. I am going to try and compare the sizes for you to put each one into perspective, and hopefully allow you to make an informed decision.

10×15 – This is our smallest, and most “easy to use” option. It is big enough to be hung on the wall but small enough to be filed away if you do not have enough space to hang it just yet. It is approximately the size of one of those super size cereal boxes.

13×19.5 – This size is already large enough to include two texts, but won’t be drawing a lot of attention on a mantelpiece. The closest we can think of to relate this size to would be a placemat, but please don’t eat off your Ketubah :)

16×24 – The Classic Ketubah Size! The standard size available for Ketubot, allows you to include two text options, it is just the right size for almost any wall in your house, allows for easy reading of the texts, and frames are readily available in any frame shop. This size can be compared to that of a Movie poster you might have had hanging in your college dorm and it is available in all our different materials.

20×30 – An impressive piece of art that will draw you in, makes the perfect wall centerpiece balancing out the room, and providing a focal point. At this size you have the possibility of including 3 text options allowing you to include a language that represents your heritage, or a language you are deeply passionate about making this Ketubah unique just for you. This Ketubah has been compared to a small cottage’s window.

Example Color Tweak

One of our couples, Arlene and KJ, fell in love with our Ani L’Dodi Ketubah. But they wanted a slight color change, so that the Ketubah would have without blue nor purple. Here is the original:

And here it is, with without blue nor purple, for Arlene and KJ:

Ketubah Gangam Style

This is how Team Ketubah has fun on Christmas Day: making our own Gangam Style videos. The man with the double-glasses pretending to be the Chubby Korean in the video is… Team Ketubah’s Fearless Leader, Señor Morgan.
