Ketubahs White as Snow

Ketubahs represent a pure and unblemished bond in the eyes of God. They signify peace and understanding and a lasting commitment. Marriage is a beautiful thing and ketubahs are a witness to it. One other thing embodies all those things, and that is the color white.

The color of perfection, white embodies values of purity, innocence, wholeness, completion, and new beginnings. Its usage differs by culture and circumstances, but unanimously touches upon occasions of significance.

In most cultures, white is associated with marriage to mark a pure passage of two souls merging together on a new beginning. In Judaism, “Shesh” (white) without any alterations is the true color of the light and was the symbol of physical and intellectual purity.

White Ketubahs are not devoid of any details of art. They are equally rich and intricate as other colored ketuabhs. Rather the white background and ink, provides depth and substance to the ketubah.

They can be paired well with other white or colored items. Highlighting portions of a white ketubah, such as the signatures, in a bold color makes it stand out and provide contrast. A colored frame can also bring a touch of life to a simple ketubah.

You can find a large collection of white ketubahs on This is Not a Ketubah.

A Font To Remember Ketubah is embellished with elegant calligraphy against a plain background. The tiny details and style of text radiate an impression of grace, elegance, and sophistication. This Ketubah brings modern art back to basics with the beautifully simple design.

Two entwined rings sit atop a plain white background in The Entwined Rings Ketubah. The minimal design centers focus on the colorful rings and the meaning they hold. As Leonardo da Vinci once said, “For those colours which you wish to be beautiful, always first prepare a pure white ground.”

Spring Ketubahs Are in The Air

Nothing is so beautiful as Spring –
   When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;
Thrush’s eggs look little low heavens, and thrush
Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring
The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing;
The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush
The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush
With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their fling.
What is all this juice and all this joy?
A strain of the earth’s sweet being in the beginning
In Eden garden. – Have, get, before it cloy,
Before it cloud, Christ, lord, and sour with sinning,
Innocent mind and Mayday in girl and boy,
Most, O maid’s child, thy choice and worthy the winning.
– Gerard Manley Hopkins

Spring is upon us; the season of rebirth, transformation, beauty and life. After the long and dreary months of winter, spring comes as a welcome change for both man and nature. Leaves and budding flowers once again sprout on barren trees and bushes. Animals come out of hibernation, and the air is buzzing with birds, and little insects busy at work.

With the rise in temperatures, comes a transformation in people as well. It is a time when we shrug off our winter layers and embrace new changes. Changes in the climate from winter to summer, pushes us to also bring changes in ourselves.

Ketubahs inspired by spring, are inspired by feelings of new life, excitement, and positive energy radiated in the season of new beginnings. Trees and flowers in lush colours adorn these bright ketubahs radiating the warmth and love of the happy couple.

The queen of seasons dominates a large collection of ketubahs at This is Not a Ketubah to reflect the values of spring we hold so dear in our marriage contract. One of my favourite spring ketubahs is The Abstract Blooms Ketubah which is inspired by Mark Rothko’s large collection of works.

A Ketubah with a Bird’s-Eye View

Birds are the universal symbol of freedom. There’s no limit to where they can travel and go; land, sea and air. The world is open to hundreds of species of birds in all shapes and sizes. They roam the earth as they please facing no barriers to their whims and desires.

Man has always been fascinated by birds. As the only living thing to fly, they have inspired man for generations in art, science, and mostly recently in the kind of technology that enables man to fly themselves. Historical ketubahs have conspicuously depicted birds in their artwork to symbolize the future of a renewed life.

In the Book of Genesis, Noah releases a Dove to find land after the flood. The bird returned with a freshly plucked olive leaf in its beak. The Dove has since come to represent life in Jewish literature. The Talmud compares the spirit of God to a dove that hovers over the face of the waters. The Flying into the Dark Ketubah is great for couples who love the symbolism of two doves flying together into the sunrise to find new land and life together, like the dove from Noah’s ark.

Birds are akin to our dreams. Langston Hughes aptly once said, “Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.” The Modern Sunrise Ketubah embodies the sense of a couples pursuing their dreams with a new beginning, shown by two birds flying above the sun of a new day.

Like the Dove, different species of birds have come to hold certain meanings and emotions. An illustration of a flamingo represents a well-balanced and family-oriented personality. Stronger breeds, such as falcons and eagles, are taken as signs of hope, positivity, prosperity and success. Find your spirit bird and make it a part of the most important document of your life – your ketubah!

Make Your Ketubah Your Happily Ever After

Signing your ketubah is like signing a document for a happily ever after. Like in all the fairy tales you’ve read growing up, once you’ve found your prince or princess it means you’ve found a soulmate for life. Your ketubah is a promise to your significant other to spend and share a life together and live happily ever after.

Fairytale ketubahs convey exactly that message. They’re perfect for romantics who just love a good Disney movie. Many of us have been raised watching Disney classics like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Movies and illustrations that inspire us in so many ways, but most of all in matters of love.

Disney inspired ketubahs are a treat for ultimate fans of Disney princesses and stories. The bright and magical ketubahs features scenes and emotions inspired by Disney classics. Couples swirling in magnificent dresses and idyllic backgrounds bring out emotions of love, tradition and hope.

A fairy tale wedding is any girl’s (and boy’s) dream. Many dream about it from a young age, planning and envisioning every last detail. Your ketubah takes center stage in that fantasy. Why not imprint your a sliver of your dreams on to your ketubah? It will always remind you of how you pictured your big day, and show how much meaning it holds in your life.

The Once Upon a Time Ketubah is inspired by classic love stories. This Ketubah is inspired by stories of bravery and romance, dragons and magic, and of course… a happily ever after! The image of a handsome couple dancing in their wedding finery, on a castle top balcony overlooking a picturesque village, is the perfect representation of a fairy tale wedding.

Weddings are in all styles and colors, but the essence of them remain the same. Marking the beginning of a happily ever after.

Ketubahs Proud as a Peacock

Peacocks have long embellished all forms of art. Their exquisite feathers in shades of midnight blue and emerald green have inspired decorative abstract and literal imitations. A peacock’s beauty has symbolized wealth, beauty and rebirth through different eras and times.

Historical ketubahs of wealthy families from India would largely feature elaborate peacocks. Originally from India, peacocks have been pets and a symbol of the royals. Ruling kings and queens would have their servants fan them with peacock feathers in the summers, and their vast gardens would be home to a flock of peacocks.

Ketubahs with peacocks make a magnificent statement. The iridescent artwork is eye catching and makes a bold statement. You can go for an abstract ketubah which features colors representing the aura of a peacock, or one which holds an actual peacock within the background of the ketubah.

Since the 390’s, the peacock has been associated with resurrection because of how it annually replaces all its feathers. The ancient oath “by the phoenix” was a sacred oath, thought to have the power of rebirth like the phoenix. Peacocks are often depicted in ketubahs to symbolize the renewal of life after marriage.

The Birds of Paradise ketubah uses the bold and vibrant colors of the peacocks in the ketubah to represent couples that are as fearless and bold as the two-legged animal, and unafraid of showing it. The Art Nouveau styled ketubah reflects the commitment of a couple to each other and tradition. Celebrating both tradition and modern values, The Regal Peacocks Ketubah is a graceful symbol of beauty, prosperity, and class.

Peacocks may be a staunch symbol in the past, but they are still prominently seen on modern art pieces, architecture, fashion shows, sculptures and much more. Able to eat poisonous snakes without any harm, the peacock is graceful, alluring and strong without letting anything hurt it.

Bring the Beach to Your Ketubah!

A beach is the first place to pop up in your head when you want to drop everything and just relax. The mere thought of glistening blue waters, cool sea breezes, and the endless horizon puts your mind at ease. And what better day to go to one of the most relaxing places in the world than on your wedding day – aka the most stressful day of your life!

Destination weddings on the beach are ideal in every way. Only your most closest friends and family can come, cutting out unnecessary clutter from your guest list; mainly acquaintances, distant relatives and work associates. Being surrounded by the people who you care most about in your life makes your wedding all the more special and filled with love.

Beach themed Ketubot are a great way to commemorate your beach side wedding: The One Love Ketubah features a picture of a bride and groom in a Hawaiian inspired ceremony on the seaside. For something more abstract there is the Starry Sea Ketubah, the Havdalah Sunset Ketubah or the Rectangular Color Reef Ketubah.

Ketubahs inspired by the beach aren’t just limited to two tones of blue and sandy brown. There are a range of colors instilled in seaside ketubahs illuminating sunsets, marine life and even the winter lights.

“The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul,” so said Wyland and he couldn’t have been farther from the truth. What draws man to the beach is watching the endless waves of the ocean move back and forth sweeping everything in its midst.

Couples who are interested in bringing the spirit of the ever energetic ocean to their homes will find the right fit in the Ocean Ketubot Collection. The symbol of power, strength, life, mystery, hope and truth is a figure of stability and enduring strength in a relationship.

The Power of Flower in your Ketubah!

We all love flowers. Their vibrant colours, attractive smell, and just the simple fact that they’re beautiful to look at make us adore them. Mother Nature brings life to our surroundings with a diverse spectrum of flowers spread over land, water and above our heads in trees.

Floral art is one of the most popular kind there is. People love it not only on their walls but on their clothes and curtains and tables and the so on. Anything with flowers is sure to win hearts and is a failproof design. Flowers are an integral part of our lives and are present at almost every major event in our lives. Whether it be a wedding, birthday, funeral or graduation.

We all know that a red rose represents love, but did you know that each colour of a type of flower stands for something? There is actually a ‘language of flowers’ which people use to communicate with.

Many couples like to include hidden messages and meaning in their ketubahs through the depiction of a certain flower or flowers. A gloxinia on a ketubah means ‘love at first sight’, a white violet says ‘let’s take a chance on happiness’.

Couples mix and match different flowers and colours on their ketubahs to create a message to each other, known only to each other, yet aesthetically stunning on the surface.

Our flower ketubot collection features ketubahs with subtle details of flowers embedded within its background. The flowers surround the text of each ketubah carrying beauty and meaning both at the same time.

Red roses weaved into the artwork of The Deco Flowers Ketuabah and The Bright Kiss Ketubah symbolize deep love and passion in a relationship. Whereas cherry blossoms in The Asian Woodgrain Flowers Ketubah and Lost View Of Fuji Ketubah represent spirituality and beauty in a marriage.

Ketubahs in Big Cities!

People travel from far and wide to visit the world’s greatest cities to experience culture, history and marvel at old and new architecture. Iconic places like Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, and Jerusalem leave a lasting impression on visitors and inspire them for life.

Couples who draw their best memories and experiences from the world’s biggest cities find them to be the best backdrop to their ketubahs. Our artists have created an astounding collection of city inspired ketubot, using interesting elements from their landscape. The Shanghai Subway Ketubah and Metro De Madrid Ketubah are remarkable pieces based on their subway and metro maps respectively.

Different places hold different meaning to different people. Your neighbour loves New York City because they had a memorable trip there, you might like it because you met your partner there, or your cousin might like just because of the Empire State Building! No matter how small or long your interaction with a city, it can make an imprint for life and hold a special place in your heart.

But you don’t have to see a place to fall in love with it. Whether you’ve visited Chicago or not, you’ll find the Chicago Skyline Ketubah enchanting and vibrant. Artists have long come out of natural country sides and been drawn by man’s tall creations in the bustling metropolis. The Eiffel Tower in Paris is a classic example. The steel structure is the focus of countless stunning portraits and photographs, making you fall in love with a place you’ve never seen with your own eyes!

Like people, cities have developed personalities of their own. Paris Ketubahs are a great choice for couples who, like the romantic city, have a deeply loving relationship. Hollywood ketubahs are a statement for glamour and style – a great choice for couples who keep chic ;)
